What will all these white collar middle management folk do instead? Are there any real plans for this displacement? It seems pretty obvious that domestic demand for goods and services will take a substantial hit on the back of all these retrenchments. Especially as Australia punishes the unemployed via ‘tough love’ economic treatment. Paying the mortgage and affording high rents by delivering pizzas is going to be a big ask.

I just lost my job to AI after a decade and a half of faithful service. Short termist candy from economic savings via a reduced wages bill and the new toy excitement leaves real human beings in their wake. How many Aussies really want this Big Tech takeover of their lives, I wonder? Nobody is asking us, however! Big companies think they will make more money for shareholders. This is more about a section of the population, the 1%, taking more than they deserve at our expense. Get ready for the scrapheap folks and weak as piss governments doing nothing on our behalf.
