Australia is the biggest importer of diesel in the world! Not per capita, but flat out largest importer by volume globally. Stop and think about that for a minute. We run our nation on diesel and yet, we don’t produce it ourselves. We subsidise the price of diesel to the tune of billions every year for miners and others. This is how stupid our governments are and how flagrant they are with our tax dollars. Australia is one of the biggest exporters of LNG globally. However, our trucks do not run on gas but on imported diesel. At the same time, we don’t properly tax LNG, so miss out on tens of billions every year.
