If you are one of the increasing number of viewers who simply read what the AI Overview or bot tells them in answer to your query the days of news feeds is over. You are now solely in the hands of an automated AI source for your information. Gee, I hope you can put your unstinting trust in that thing!
AI Killing Off The World Wide Web
Quite apart from the fact that there will not be AI investigative journalists actually digging out the truth to find the news, you will be sucking from the one teat for your news. Who controls that AI? Elon Musk, with his Nazi leanings and family background, had his Grok trained to provide sympathetic views on white supremacy and Nazis. I hope that you are aware that AI tells you what it has been fed on and the parameters under which it has been trained. If you think that getting your news and information is faster and more direct from AI Overview or a bot, think again. This will actually kill off large parts of the world wide web, making all those sites obsolete.
AI Controlled By Its Oligarchic Masters
Remember that real news is found by real human journalists investigating situations. The further you get away from the source of stuff the less you will actually know. AI is a filter, which can filter stuff out and direct you wherever its oligarchic master wants you to go. AI is not God. AI is not some cool magic that exists without an agenda. Don’t be a dumb f***! Smart phone = dumb human. Use it or lose it! We are talking about your intelligence here. The more you become reliant on devices to inform you about the world the less power you have. Your autonomy is at stake here. If you don’t know the primary sources behind the information you receive you are likely to be getting the bum’s steer. There is a veritable flood of misinformation out there. AI is no guarantee of good data. Convenience does not always equate with solid information that you can trust. Faster does not mean surer.
