Much of the news you view downunder is controlled by News Corp, which is owned by a right wing American billionaire. Facebook and Instagram are owned by another right wing billionaire, Mark Zuckerberg. X, formerly Twitter, is owned by yet another American billionaire, Elon Musk. American billionaires control your news feed. Can you perceive a bit of a pattern here, folks? The news you get either by legacy media or social media platforms comes via Trump supporting oligarchs. AI is likewise owned by a bunch of American billionaires, who have kissed the ring of President Trump. Your news and information comes via a filter, a right wing filter, which puts a decided slant on things.
Right Wing Billionaires Beat The Drums Of Your News
Have you wondered why the news bangs on about the One Nation ‘orange wave’ when they have 2 seats out of 150 in the Australian federal parliament? It is because Australian news is controlled largely by right wing platforms like The Australian newspaper, News24, and other Rupert Murdoch News Corp publications and networks. The ABC meekly follows the News Corp lead in most matters and has an ex-News Corp CEO in charge of it. Right wing drums beat in the metro jungles of Melbourne, Sydney and elsewhere.
American Power & Influence Downunder
Power is in the hands of business, whereas governments are the smoke and mirrors of the democracy illusion. You get to vote every 3 or 4 years but corporate lobbyists get to tell their stories to our political leaders most days of the week. Power and influence remains in the hands of the elite and their fixers. Neoliberalism castrated the political class decades ago. News Corp has not paid any corporate tax in Australia for around a decade. American corporations pay proportionally very little tax, despite generating billions of dollars of revenue in Australia. Most of us pay income tax, unless you are one of those earning a million dollars or more who avoids paying tax via the service of a smart tax accountant. PwC? KPMG? Tax tells you a lot about who actually rules the roost.
One Nation Fake News Floods Social Media
American billionaires control your news feed. They have been influencing how you think for years. Smart phones and social media have facilitated their closer control over you. What gets put in your news feed drives the narrative. One Nation had their billionaire backers flood social media with fake news videos about Pauline Hanson. There was Pauline saving sick kiddies in hospitals via organ donations. Pauline positively doing everything! The orange wave on steroids. Most Aussies have no idea how the internet actually works, they just use it. This makes them vulnerable to digital campaigns infiltrating their social media feeds.
Social Media Is An American Invention
Far right activists are marching in Melbourne, flag waving fascists and neo-Nazis. They want to give the impression of being a grass roots phenomenon. These extremists are only a tiny minority of us. Australians are not Americans, even though social media has infected many of us with its hate speech and culture of complaint. Social media is an American invention.

Right Wing?
“We use the terms Right and Left as shorthand for political persuasions. So, what are 8 things that mean you’re right wing? In the current climate, this is likely to indicate that this person shares exclusionary cultural attitudes, which could be categorised as racist, maybe white supremacist, supports the ‘trad wife’ gender positioning, doesn’t like much government regulation, is anti-immigration, and wants to pay as little tax as possible. Whereas those on the left may support socialism, which is more and better government regulation, wants to see greater respect for diversity in all its forms, an expansion of power sharing beyond the white male cohort, and wealth being taxed to create real equity among more of us.”
