You Cannot Trust What Comes Out Of The Mouth Of Racists
0 9 mins 2 weeks

Let’s get one thing clear, it is those on the far right who invariably turn to violence on the back of their intolerance. In Perth, we see an individual throwing a homemade bomb into the midst of the peaceful Invasion Day march. Thankfully, this device did not go off or we would be having a very different discussion right now. On the Gold Coast a young March for Australia organiser gets into a fight and deliberately lies about the ethnic identity of his opponents. He promotes this disinformation to his online audience, fraudulently claiming that his fisticuff fight was with Middle Eastern Australians. QLD police declare this information to be false and misleading. You cannot trust what comes out of the mouth of racists.

“Police have rejected a claim from anti-immigration rally March for Australia that an organiser was seriously assaulted by “Middle Eastern men” the day before Australia Day. ABC NEWS Verify investigated the claim, which was shared hundreds of times after being uploaded to the official March for Australia (MFA) Facebook page and other accounts.”

Intolerance Fuels The Violent Rage Of Racists

Right wing folk march, wrapped in the Australian flag, spurred on by intolerance for those they deem unworthy of being Australian. Neo-Nazis are involved in the leadership of these marches and their traits are well known to be racist and intolerant of brown skinned people generally. These people, far from being ideal Australians, are a divisive force full of hate. Immigrants are what most of us are in Australia and what much of this nation was founded on. First Nations descendants hold a much older cultural place at the heart of this land, of course. Both of these are essential groups within our communities and population and are at risk from racist Australians.

Australia Has A Strong Racist Element Within It

Let us do away with the bullshit about Australia not being a racist nation. We can see before our eyes the rampant racism of a section of our population. Especially in regional areas, where there are fewer immigrants, we see an Anglo-settler culture that believes itself to be better and more Australian than the rest of us. Pauline Hanson and her One Nation party sew division based upon race and ethnicity wherever they go. Racists are often individuals who believe they should be accorded more respect, despite the fact they have done nothing to earn it. Sovereign Citizens, this disaffected bunch infected with an imported American dystopian worldview, are disproportionately represented among lawbreakers, tax avoiders and those that owe child maintenance. Losers who have a bone to pick with a society that holds them to account. This is the rubbish tip where the politics of grievance finds its supporters.

Racism Is A Crime

Let me ask you a question. Is there any good reason why racism is not a crime here in the 21C? Can you give me a single constructive or moral defence for allowing racist views to be promulgated? Yes, we have just criminalised hate speech in a watered down sort of way. Wow, it has only taken us a century or more downunder to do so. Yet, we still have hateful Australians marching to halt immigration and to send recently arrived people back to their country of origin. Yes, that is part of the agenda of these flag waving racists marching around the place. I would remind you that these xenophobic folk are not the best of us, not by a long shot. You cannot trust what comes out of the mouth of racists. They lie a lot and spread disinformation to further their hateful cause.

There Is One Race, The Human Race

There is one race, the human race. Take a moment to consider the lives of individuals who devote themselves to the cause of hate. Think about folk who believe the worst of others because of the colour of their skin. Intolerance is often laziness from those who will not make the effort to leave their comfort zone. Do you really want to live in a country populated and run by racists?  Many of these racists are losers looking for scapegoats to blame their own inadequacies upon. Take a look at Trump’s America and the paramilitary forces rounding up brown skinned people. Beating up and killing Americans. Locking up small children for up to 8 months in detention prisons. Is this the kind of thing you want to see happening in Australia?

Right Wing Media Rules Downunder

The media in Australia is almost all right wing, we do not have a progressive voice of any size downunder. Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp controls the legacy media here and has for decades. Therefore, all this coverage for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation should be viewed in light of this bias. Currently, One Nation does not have a single seat in the federal house of representatives, not one in the whole of Australia. Prime Ministers can only come from the house of reps. Right wing politics gets a disproportionate amount of coverage downunder. Our media landscape is heavily biased toward the Right. PM Albo may not be the most stirring of political leaders but his Labor party holds the largest majority ever. The majority of Australians do not warm to the far right extremism of Trump and echoes of this will not light a fire in Oz. Pauline Hanson and her backer Gina Rinehart have been hanging out at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, Donald Trump’s meet and greet manor. They want to see a right wing takeover of Australia in the mould of Trump.

Scapegoating Minorities Is A Right Wing Favourite

You cannot trust what comes out of the mouth of racists. Right wing politics is the politics of grievance – the blame game where scapegoats like immigrants, refugees, LGBTQI, brown skinned people, and uppity women are cast as causes for popular disaffection. Donald Trump went around telling Americans how bad their country was and that it was the fault of these groups. The same play will be made here by Hanson and her mob. Those on the Right offer easy answers to complex problems. They like to keep their supporters dumb and out of the real loop. Anti-immigration marches vent frustrations by blaming the housing and cost of living crises on immigrants. The real culprits are much more powerful people, billionaires and oligarchs. But stupid angry people like to punch down upon more vulnerable targets. They are too gutless to take on the big end of town. Indeed, right wing politics is funded by these same rich individuals and corporations looking to have their candidates ride a wave of disaffection into power. In the end, politics is always about power.

“I could have also used the terms selfish, greedy, disinterested and trapped in the past. Look around you at the current crop of right wing governments in the United States and Israel as illustrations of this. The MAGA supporters are, on the whole, focused on what they can get from a Trump administration and turning the clock back to a less integrated multiracial America. You do not get the sense that these folk are interested in what is good for all Americans, no matter their skin colour, gender or sexual preference. This is why right wing voters tend to be more stupid.”
